Image
“Would you o'er evil a victory win? There's wonderful pow'r in the blood.” – Lewis E. Jones 🩸 Dear bluebird in bondage, It’s time to fly! Spread your wings and soar the sky. “How can I,” a question you may cry, “when these chains are no lie?” Yes, there are things that will limit you, burdens that will battle your briskness, barriers that will block you, and bullies that will beat your emotions, but there’s one thing, which also starts with B, that can free you from any bondage—the blood of Christ. Why His blood? Find out in today’s passage. Exodus 12:12-17 (NASB) 12 For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and fatally strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the human firstborn to animals; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments—I am the Lord. 13 The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will come upon you to destroy you when I stri

“You’re the wonder-working God. All the miracles I’ve seen, too good to not believe!” – Brandon Lake 👀 Dear despairing doubter, Ever felt so useless when it comes to bringing people to God? Or do you yourself doubt the power of His blood? Whatever your unbelief, whether your doubt in God or self-doubt, some proven truths to you I’d like to shout. Previously, I blogged about the Israelites’ slavery in Egypt. Now, we’re going to see a glimpse of what the country had to suffer because its king wouldn’t let go of God’s people. Exodus 8:6-19 (NKJV) 6 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. 7 And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt. 8 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Entreat the Lord that He may take away the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to the Lo

Strangers Here: Slavery’s Imagery (Exodus 1:11-22)

“We’re all strangers here, so it’s alright if you can’t stop the tears…” – Tenth Avenue North 😫 Dear oppressed outsider, We live in a world where each one of us is a target. We walk in a war where we’re tempted. We stumble. We fear. We fret. We risk leaping when our faith is tested. We long for the city that’s pain-free. Do you want to come there with me? I’m talking about heaven, the home of Jesus’ followers. Before we get there, we have this journey called life. Yes, it’s full of strife, but it’s still beautiful because God’s love makes it meaningful. It’s a story whose author and protagonist is God, whose villain is Satan, and whose soundtrack is salvation. What I’m going to discuss is what we’re being saved from, sin. The beginning of the Book of Exodus was wisely planned by God to illustrate how He brings out people from slavery. “In the Bible, slavery is a picture of sin. The bitter life of oppression [in Exodus] is exactly what we get under the cruelty of greed, lust, hatred,
