10,000 Reasons: A Compilation of Good News in 2023 (Psalm 103:1-5)

“For all Your goodness, I will keep on singing. Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find.” – Matt Redman 🗞 ️ Dear blessed beneficiary, The year is coming to an end. It’s time we follow the trend, wherein people look back to the year’s blessings and look forward to new beginnings. Before we face the new year, let’s look back and praise and thank God for the good things He has done for the world this year. This is a joint late Thanksgiving and early New Year's Eve celebration post. The Bible reading for this entry is the beginning of Psalm 103 where it tells us not to forget the benefits we get from the Lord. Psalm 103:1-5 (NKJV) Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good thing

Above All: Crucified (Luke 23:46, John 19:30)

"Like a rose trampled on the ground, You took the fall and thought of me above all." – Paul Baloche and Lenny LeBlanc 🌹 Dear undermined underdog, Winnie the Pooh asked, "Have you ever had one of those days when you just can't win, Eeyore?" "Yup, I know how that feels," Eeyore replied. There would be times when we feel like we're stuck in a frustrating situation. Maybe we're in a time when we say there's no hope for our nation. Our earthly problems are only temporary. Do you know that right now you can have everlasting victory? Today is Good Friday, a day we commemorate the sacrifice Jesus did on the cross. I wrote a poem today as I recalled what happened that day. Here are the verses to reflect on today: Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’” Having said this, He breathed His last. John 19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finishe

Holy Spirit: Being Warmed by the Fire of God's Spirit (Numbers 27:18-23)

“Let us become more aware of Your presence. Let us experience the glory of Your goodness.” – Bryan & Katie Torwalt 🔥 Dear freezing fellow, Has your heart become cold at one time? Were you the kind who won’t give a beggar even one dime? Were you once like Snow Queen Elsa who wanted to be alone? Were there many times you didn't want to answer your phone? December is here, and for those in the northern hemisphere, it’s the cold season. (Yes, I learned that from Animal Crossing.) But for us Christians, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. It’s Christmas season! What keeps us warm on the inside is our fervent love for Jesus Christ. If you’ve been following along, you know our story takes place in the desert. This is going to be our Numbers series finale, so it has some wintry feels despite the location. And, hey, there’s cold season in the desert, too. The passage we have is the passing of the baton from Moses to Joshua. The book of Joshua, however, comes after Deuter

Healer: Whole Through One (Numbers 21:5-9)

“I believe You're my healer. I believe You are all I need.” – Hillsong Worship 👨‍⚕️ Dear sick species, Your flesh desires to do what God desires for you to quit. You need to be made whole by His Spirit. You need Jesus in your life to heal every part of you – the part that sins, the part that hates, the part that’s blue, the part that’s anxious, the part that rages, the part that doesn’t know what to do.  Health isn’t just about the physical aspect of life. It also includes the emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual well-being of a person (Roger Williams University) . We’re talking about this because this entry is about the story of The Bronze Serpent found in Numbers 21. My previous post was on the psalm written about how God punished the generation of the Israelites for rebelling against him. They were to wander in the wilderness for 40 years and were to die there without entering the Promised Land, Canaan, except for Caleb and Joshua. Now we’ll read of a signif

Who Am I: The Nature of Life (Psalm 90:3-10)

“Still, You hear me when I'm calling. Lord, You catch me when I'm falling, and You've told me who I am…” – Casting Crowns 📞 Dear fading flower, In terms of our present life, we’re just like plants whose days on earth are numbered. Like pretty, fragrant flowers, we bloom but then wither. God doesn’t intend for us to die, but when sin opened its eye, it craved owning God’s position, which is a lie. No one can take God’s place. He’s the one true God, and though other people don’t believe Him, it doesn’t change who He is. There’s one Truth and that’s Jesus Christ (John 14:6). We last stopped at Numbers 14. Now we’re taking a detour to a different book of the Bible. Let’s look at the first psalm ever written . Moses wrote this after God said the passage I featured in the entry before this . (← Click the link to read.)   Psalm 90:3-10 (NKJV) 3 You turn man to destruction, And say, “Return, O children of men.” 4 For a thousand years in Your sight Are like y

I Believe, Help Thou My Unbelief: Bible Verses For People’s Worries & Fears (Numbers 14:27-34)

“I believe, help Thou my unbelief. I walk into the unknown, trusting all the while.” – Gaither Vocal Band 🦶 Dear seditious skeptic, You saw a great problem, and you forgot God is greater. You chose not to trust. In black and white, that makes you a hater. The fact is that we’re imperfect people. We do not always love God. There are times we fail. We’re definitely not haters all the time, but at that specific moment when we choose to doubt, it’s like we’re saying, “I don’t agree God can __________.” You fill in the blank with an example of what you’ve worried about before. Because of such false beliefs, we might choose to disobey God. Let’s see how God punishes the Israelites because their doubt grew into a decision to rebel. Numbers 14:27-34 (NASB) 27 “How long shall I put up with this evil congregation who are grumbling against Me? I have heard the complaints of the sons of Israel which they are voicing against Me. 28 Say to them, ‘As I live,’ declares the Lord, ‘just as you have

Set a Fire: Follow the Light of the World (Numbers 9:15-18, 22-23)

"No place I would rather be than here in Your love, here in Your love." – Will Reagan & United Pursuit 🧭 Dear lost loiterer, Do you have no idea where you're heading? Don't know where you should be going? I think everyone has been in the middle of a crossroad before, that spot where you’re given options and you don’t know which to choose. The passage that we’re going to look at is how the Israelites were led in the wilderness. We’re in the book of Numbers, but this was already mentioned in Exodus. It’s told briefly in Exodus 40:34-38. Let’s see the more detailed account in Numbers. Numbers 9:15-18, 22-23 (NASB) 15 Now on the day that the tabernacle was erected, the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony, and in the evening it was like the appearance of fire over the tabernacle until morning. 16 That is how it was continuously; the cloud would cover it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. 17 Whenever the cloud was lifted fr
