World of Wonders: God’s Glory in His Creation (Psalm 104:1-13)

“I see a world of wonders! There’s so much more to explore…” – Celina :D

Dear pandemic-ridden pessimist,

I may be writing to myself, for at times I am like you. Being stuck at home has made me blue. Thank God for the vaccines! We'll return to experiencing public scenes. Since for now it’s still not best to go outside, let’s just read a wild ride, an adventure in words painted about this expanse we’re existing in that God created.

Psalm 104:1-13 (Celina’s Version)

Dear soul, bless the Lord!

Dear Lord, how great You are,

Robed with honor and in majestic art!

The sunshine’s your garment.

The heavens stretched as Your tent.

The oceans are where Your palace is found.

You travel the wind with the clouds.

The winds are Your messengers.

The flames are Your ministers.

You set the earth on a firm foundation;

It can never be shaken by any commotion.

You blanketed it with waters

That stood above the mountains.

At Your rebuke, the waters fled.

At Your thunder, flew away the fountains.

Over the mountains, they flowed.

Down the valleys, they did go

To the place You assigned them.

You set a boundary they cannot cross,

So the earth is not in water lost.

You sent springs to valleys.

They flow among many a hill.

They refresh every wild animal.

Thirsty wild donkeys drink their fill.

The birds nest by these waters.

Among the branches, they tweet psalters.

You water the hills from Your upper storey.

With the fruit of Your works, the land is happy.

This is a painting of God’s glory seen in the sky, the waters, and the land. It’s more of the sky and the waters. You’ll have to read the whole Psalm for yourself for the whole picture of the earth.

What can we learn from this? I composed a song called “World of Wonders” and it portrays how “the whole earth is filled with awe” at God’s wonders that when a new day comes, He brings songs of joy to the mind of the one who woke up that morning (Psalm 65:8). That’s how we should see every new day. It’s a blessing every time we wake up and we’re okay. We’re still in this wonderful world God made. He blesses us with the sun and protects us with the ozone shade. He created water, so we won’t thirst. He created earth on a firm foundation, so it won’t burst.

I’ve searched it: What’s the foundation of earth? Is it its iron core? Is it the sun’s gravitational pull to the earth? According to the core accretion theory, the sun was formed first before the earth, which started with its rocky core, and collisions of icy comets and asteroids deposited water on the earth’s surface (Redd, 2017). I looked it up to see how scientists came up with the detailed narrative of Earth’s formation. The explanations they studied go with the idea that one thing caused the existence of another, but of course, that’s not what we Christians believe. If we follow the order of Genesis 1, we see waters already existed before the spoken creation happened. The daily sequence was light first, sky & division of waters second, Earth’s land & vegetation third, the sun, moon, & stars fourth, and so on. I’d just like to point out that the earth was created before the stars, so we can’t say that the sun or any star caused the formation of Earth. Whatever foundation God used to put our planet in place, it sure is strong. Maybe it’s gravity; it doesn’t matter, for this discussion has been long.

What I want us to see is how awesome God’s creation is. You don’t even have to go outside. The wonder in you is one thing you can’t miss. You can do things like sense, think, and feel. Are these not reasons to be glad that God is real?

Let me end this epistle with the music video of my song:

God bless!

Sincerely,

Celina <3
